Faces in the Cup

Writing 201: Poetry is expanding my verbal acumen something serious. Today’s assignment is called a found poem. Basically, I look for phrases from random sources and make a poem. Some of this was found. That got to be tedious, so I wrote the rest of it out. My Word promp is faces. So, here it goes!!

Faces. Found Poetry. Chiasmus.

Up a stump
He had besides the things before mentioned
The power of living with daily intentions
Yet, it feels like his life continues to slump

His soul waits on the Lord
More than they that watch for the morning
Even when the soul is mourning
His hope is in God

He is the church, the church is him
The blood of Jesus washed his soul
Sweet communion makes him whole
Knowing no sin is within

A reflection of life stares at him in the cup
Reverance on his face
Is he worthy to partake?
No worries. It’s time to look up.

  1. Nice poem, for me it first started very low but then at the end the person in the poem stood but and continued living but with hope. If not then, I still like it 🙂

Oh this is moving! Great job, Jarrod! 🙂

I love this a lot: His soul waits on the Lord
More than they that watch for the morning
Even when the soul is mourning
    His hope is in God.

Thank you! Most of all Thank God! The first two lines of that stanza is from Psalms 130.

I actually got this from a message my grandfather preached with the same title. It makes me think every time I take communion. Am I worthy?
