Letters to My Younger Self: Baby J

Baby J,

Welcome to the world!

There’s so much to see, so much to do, and even more to learn. The world is new, fresh, and exciting. It’s full of hopes and dreams. It’s primed and ready for you to make your mark.

For now, enjoy life as much as you can.
Appreciate the warmth of your mother’s hugs. Savor the time spent playing baseball in the living room with your dad. Delight in the hot dogs/mac and cheese combo your mom makes. She makes it a lot, but that’s because you love it so much. Your memory won’t develop until around age three, but I urge you to try and remember North Carolina. It’s beautiful!

Revel in your parents being together for as long as you can. Why? Things are going to change soon. In your short lifetime, you’re going to be hit with something major. In fact, you won’t realize the significance of it until years down the road. You won’t be able to process it all at one time. Don’t be afraid. It will shape your character. It will give you a chance to succeed in life. What’s meant for evil will be made for good. You were made for good.

Don’t be afraid. God is with you.

There are so many things I have to tell you, but right now you can’t read. I’ll write you again, Baby J. Till then, know that God loves you.

With love,

Big J
