This is America

Brett Kavanaugh has officially been confirmed as a judge for the Supreme Court of the United States.

I’m not surprised.

Why? The good majority of Americans don’t care.

They don’t care about racism, bigotry, or equal treatment under the law. That was made very clear during the last presidential election. In fact, most are so tired of being called out for their racist attitudes that they’ve become jaded to the word. Why consider changing your attitude when the very person you vote for espouses and expresses your core beliefs?

Let’s add sexual assault to this list.

Pres Trump has received a lot of flack for his comments regarding women. However, none of that mattered enough to keep him out of the oval. This latest vote for Kavanaugh only affirms what was done in 2016 election. Congress has shown they don’t care about sexual misconduct which is indicative of the American people.

We don’t care.

While this is nothing new, it’s still a shame. I’ve been enlightened during this process. It’s mind-blowing to see how many people justify sexual assault. I’m ashamed at how selfish we’ve become as a nation.

Let’s get it straight, this has nothing to do with my political affiliations and everything to do with being a decent human being. I find that human decency is lacking amongst many in this country. For a nation that continually boasts of being the best, we certainly don’t act like it. We definitely need to do better.

This is America, but it’s definitely not how you perceive it.
